Go TEAM! Happy congratulations on your first win! And, more importantly, for being a team, and going to practices and working together for those goals.

    YOU ROCK! :D

Thanks Red, seems to be OK now. Was it the old "loose connection" again?!

My sons had an ice hockey game on Sunday night - my eldest (goalie) had a shut out/clean sheet/didn't let any in! - and the youngest scored 7 and assisted 2 (that means he made the pass to another player who then scored). I love watching him skate and play. He tried football when he was about 9 years old and hadn't got the attention span - he'd be kicking daisies and looking bored while everyone else played around him!

Lol. My oldest nephew played soccer when he was 6 or so. They played inside on a basketball court. While the rest of the kids ran around in a little clump with the ball - my guy ran in their general direction but only on the lines painted on the floor for the basketball game. Put simply, it wasn't a very direct route. They made him a goalie :)

Red - even that little bit of description was thrilling. Do you think there will ever be a Utube vid?

I think the season's over now - awwww!

We have to wait until summer for the start of the junior cricket season :)

And in the meantime there are indoor tennis tournaments!!

Cricket (yawn) isn't the quickest of games! Lots of standing around, polishing of balls on the groin of the bowler's trousers, and occasional running and shouting. Closest comparison would be baseball for the amount of action. Its great if the weather's good though - good excuse to sit around, have a doze, and eat a picnic!

Uggh - I can't stand baseball. For all the reasons you've just mentioned. I like picnics though :)

All I know about cricket is that they wear these cool striped hats. And that, for reasons that escape me, the game is named after an insect...

Hmm, don't know where the name comes from. Its meant to be a very dignified and respectful game, hence the english expression "its just not cricket" when something is underhand.

I'm going to have to try to find out now. I have heard that expression. Not here of course, but in movies or books.

    Keeper of the hens

Junior cricket is great - each pair of batters only face 4 overs (an over is 6 "balls" - a bowler trying to hit the stumps), so you never get in a situation where a really good pair of batters can be in the crease for ever. And all the fielding team have to take a turn at bowling so they can't just continously keep their good bowler in.

A match only lasts an hour or two (which is quick for cricket!) so the scores are often quite close so it's a tense and exciting way to spend an evening - it was actually really nice as they used to play on a Friday night, so I'd finish work, drive to wherever they were playing (usually in a nice park somewhere, so you'd be surrounded by fields and trees), and watch a leisurely game of cricket and have some chips and a drink! It was a really sweet and gently introduction to the weekend, I recommend it to all ;)

Junior cricket sounds more watchable than the adult variety! At least everyone gets a go. Motorsport sends me to sleep!
