    Hi All

I have heard that you can get a reduction in council tax if you keep livestock in your back garden?????

Can anyone tell me if this is true??

Americans - do you think that would be like a county tax here? Wow-that would be very cool. Although not what happens here. Or is it, if you are zoned Rural?

Might be a reason for us ALL to get chickens!

I've never heard about it, and it doesn't sound very plausible - the council reducing council tax that is!

Knowing our council, they'd put it UP to reflect multiple occupancy of the garden...

And if you pass any eggs on to friends or relatives charge business rates too!

    'tis true :(

Last week the roads were in chaos around Keighley 'cos the bypass hadn't been gritted and there were 5 seperate smashes on it (it's only a couple of miles long but it's dual-lane 70mph). So the council waited until after the crashes, then closed the bypass so they could grit it! I wouldn't mind but isn't that what we pay taxes for - and the weather had been given as freezing - makes you wonder...

(apologies for sounding like a miserable old git - but you have to feel for those poor sods who crashed on a main road that should have been gritted)

And who've now lost their no claims and will have to pay increased insurance plus increased council tax next year. It makes me wonder why we bother paying some of the idiots they have in charge in local council. :(

Be fair, Neil; they weren't to KNOW it was going to be cold and's usually 100 degrees in the shade at this time of year, after all...
