Yesterday Karen was nursing Ellie, a big Sussex, Ellie had been a bit quiet for a few days and Karen examined her but couldn't find any obvious signs. Ellie was sat near the water pot and was drinking but not eating so Karen sat Ellie on her knee and tempted her with her favorite food, spinach, which she did peck at and eat quite a bit. Karen was is tears as she was nursing her and kept saying "Were going to lose her, I know we are". This morning when I let the girls out Ellie wasn't present and when I looked in the coop she was slumped in the corner. Ellie was on 12 months old, I know table birds like Ellie don't live as long as say Warrens but 12 months is just wrong. I wish we knew what was wrong with her, she didn't appear to be suffering in any way but was just quiet and just stood around. R.I.P Ellie:sleep1:

R.I.P. little Ellie..what sad news. I have lost a few that young too over the years. It's awful to loose them that young. I know she had a great life with you and Karen though, even if it was short.:face-crying:

    Keeper of the hens

RIP, it's awful to lose them like that, at least she didn't suffer and you made her time with you special.

I'm so sorry. You are right, it is wrong for her to go so soon, but you did your best for her and I am sure she had a wonderful life with you. Sleep soundly Ellie. xx
