I am a bit behind with my postings but was sure you would want to see the seal pups this year. We went a tail end of November. My it was so cold and the wind was bitter. The seals and the pups were not at least bothered by it several were even asleep in the water.

This Mamma feeding her baby was almost strangled by fishermens nets. She was one of the lucky ones and was saved by the seal guardians.... you can see the terrible scar round her neck. She is twelve years old now and still comes to have her baby every year.

Outstanding as ever NN! They are very appealing animals and it must be because of that permanent smile they have. What a lovely story about the mama seal with the scarred neck. I suppose it's a bit unfair, but everytime I see something on TV about fishermen I just see them as uncaring killers. They try to make out that they care about the sea and the eco-balance, but they don't. They would fish it empty and kill any other animal that dares to eat a fish if they could. I hope that is just a minority but it doesn't seem to be.

Anyway, I love the pictures and hope all the seals grow well and keep warm this winter!!

Thank you kindly for your lovely comments.
Think of the bill you would have for their food CC, then theres the trips to the seaside when you want to excersise them. Then a bigger bath mat for them to recline on when you want a bath and the worry that they are smiling at seeing you in the buff.:face-devil-grin:

They wouldn't be smiling; I'd have a massive bill for their ongoing psychiatric care... but I'd exercise them down the end of the High Street in the Thames! :rolling:

Thank you Julie, it is wonderful to ne able to go and see them they are so cute. It amazes me how they adapt to the visitors. They are quite happy to look up when you talk to them, but wave one of their flippers when they want to to move on.

Wild animals have such difficult lives - it is wonderful to see them so happy and relaxed in your photos. I'd never heard of Donna Nook before - I hope it never becomes too popular, if you know what I mean. Are the seal guardians funded or are they volunteers?

ONE TO WATCH - BBC Winterwatch airs tonight on BBC Two at 8.30pm, with four programmes this week following the story of the seal colony at Blakeney Point Nature Reserve and there's going to be some amazing footage. http://eastofenglandnt.wordpress.com/ Credit Bonnie Wood.

She loved the waxwing birds too. The thing that first made her watch was the ptarmigan (is that right?) She was meowing at them!

aaww love Tabby enjoying a bit of tele. They can be so funny with what interests them. Koko loves that short cartoon series 'Miniscule'. I recorded a whole bunch of them and he particualry loved the bees and insects flying by and the cheeky spider . Trev took a pic somewhere of him up on the couch trying to catch them.
