...apart from knowing some v. posh people! Ollie, tuned in an old people's place today and spoke to a splendid lady who had been a midwife for hundreds of years (she delivered her own GP - how many people can say that??) and she said she went to a posh house and was told to use the tradesmen's entrance. She stood firm on the front step and said six years study made her a lot more than a tradesman! Somehow, I thought of you, Ollie!

That's a great story CC, and she must've been a fantastic lady. I used to spend lots of time with my nan and she told me lots of fantastic stories, but I was just too young to appreciate or remember them. I really wish I could've had those conversations with her when I was in my 30s and my memory was better than it was as a child or at my current age. I could've written them down to have them for posterity and pass on to my kids. It should be compulsory that people in residential/nursing homes write down their memoirs. In fact, they should employ people to take dictation from them.

Definitely. I spent the hour or so I was tuning talking to her and to a gentleman who played with the great bandleaders like Ambrose and Harry Parry (honest!). He played the piano when i'd finished and it was a privilege to listen to him. Yet if you passed him in the street you'd never know what a fabulous life he'd led.
Lovely card, Lynn - you're so clever with them!

I'd love to have an afternoon with that old midwife. I realise that I am sometimes telling tales that are "old stuff". Have written some of it down but maybe I should do more while it's still in my head.

    Do it Ollie!!

Many years ago I sat next to an old man on the bus who told me he could speak several languages so had had a very interesting time in the army during the war. It was a shame his journey (on the bus!) only lasted 10 minutes. I'd love to have heard more.

Well here I am back again just in time for Christmas, missed you all very much but what with some health issues, bad back and a terrible come down off some drugs I was somewhat poorly.

Here is the family pic that Trevor took of us all for the family Christmas newsletter we sent out.

    family Christmas 2012

Back row: Anna, Trevor (holding Koko), Shane (eldest son) Tamara

front: Brian, Isabelle(grand daughter) Julie (TM)

and here is the 'chocolate monster' now 10 months old.

    Photobucket

.....and they wanted me to wear this!!!!!

What superb photos Julie. These family pictures are real treasures.

Koko is exactly like our brown Burmese, just so floppy and loving. He has the same big open eyes too. Unlike his blue brother whose's eyes are generally in the half or closed "smiling" mode.

I think I can see your pics OK TM - the family one is lovely! It was obvious which one was you with that lovely purple dress. You look so happy - hope your health issues are all behind you now (or is that not the right phrase when you had a bad back?!)

Koko is gorgeous! I bet he's a bundle of energy - he looks like he's spotted something out of the window and is waiting for Trev to release him ...!
