Let's talk about Luke. LOL No, I am just trying to figure out if you are the Luke who was one of the chicks godparents and also the Luke who helped Neil as Police Officer when the chat was getting nasty. (Wazza there used to be a job for you on here!) And yes, also the Luke who saw the black & white cat racing around the coop.

If yes - GREAT to have you back

If no - GREAT to have you here as own self :)

Red posted about it under "The Girls" a few hours ago. GREAT description of what happened. I think it must have been Dan - which makes sense timewise as he lives in middle-USA. He is another person who didn't transfer to the forum from the chat. Miss him too :(

I also remember all the CHICK ALERTS!! for whenever a chick happened to wander in front of the cam...and i'll never forget the first time a chick was spotted, little miss Luca, and my dad sent me a text saying "OH MY GOD THERE IS A CHICK, IT IS LOVELY!! GET HOME NOW!" :D

That was the first time I'd logged on at work. I was telling my ex-boss about the site, and that some chicks were about to hatch, and there it was! I thought it must've hatched the evening before and was just having another wander, but it was its first venture into the world. I felt really privileged to have shared it.

Ahhh, Lynn Rides the Cam :)

Lynn, Milly wasn't bio-Mom. She was feel'n broody so the Hen Keepers went out to a farm and got some special eggs for her. Three of them hatched. Sorry, don't remember the lineage of the chicks... But someone else will post that. Two of the chicks were roosters tho.

I looked back on the blog from the main page and the eggs were bought 29th May (can't believe it was so long ago!) and were Buff Orpington. They hatched on 18th June - 2 boys and a girl. The 2 boys were to be rehomed but sadly all 3 were killed by (presumably) a fox on 27th Sept. If you scroll back on the blog there are photos of them as adults (well, big chickens!) and chicks. And the baby mice, and Lottie the lamb!

Kate.. I have a specialist role, I am a family liasion Officer FLO and i am responsible for being with a family who have lost someone to a tragic road accident, and yes 9 x out of 10 if i have a family to look after, It is me who goes to tell them the sad news. Boy that is hard, really hard.. I am telling a mum a wife a partner a husband a dad that someone who means the world to them, someone they love.. will NEVER be coming home ever again. That is the hardest thing in the world to do.

My sis-in-law had to tell me that my adored nan had died, and then that my mom had already had her cremated. I was in pieces and felt so sorry for her - she didn't know what to do. I think she was glad to escape in the end so much admiration to anyone that has to do it.

But ladies I thank you for your nice words.. yes its a wicked life but someone has to do what we do and it does take a special person.

Hey we could always have a thread about each of us... in Lukes thread we talk about Luke, in wazza's thread (You take the micky out of me) and in diane's thread we talk about her.. bla bla bla.... or dont we care and we just simply Hijack every thread regardless.. It would be a moderators nightmare to split all the threads and make them normal (ish)

Ok - now I'm confused, said the student. At that use of faff. Ah - referring to my notes, it seems that what Kate taught me was the plural of the word. I'm guessing there is no completely literal definition of the word? Anywhere from *wasted energy* to *screwing around* it seems.

Do you know that the next version of cell phones will be with an ATM/Credit card type function? Buying theater tickets? Just hold your phone up in front of the scanner on their counter...beep and your bank is charged.
