I've just noticed that they sell Barking Heads on Zooplus. Don't know what their prices are like compared to other stockists but they're a good site for cat products so might be worth a look.

Oh cool, it's a LOT cheaper on Zooplus = awesome! Thanks Kate

Yes, we tend to use kibble dispensing toys to feed Kasper from...that way it takes him 10 - 25 minutes per meal depending on the toy. He enjoys it, it works his brain and it stops him from swallowing it all in one mouthful :rolling:

I know a few people who should be fed the same way!!
Glad it's cheaper-they're a Dutch company I think so it can take 3 or 4 days for delivery, but it usually comes via DPD who give you an hour's slot for delivery and are always on time! Pet Warehouse are good for some things too.

Yes, they brought that in recently - and you have to spend a fair amount to get free delivery, but it's worth saving up your order and getting it all at once. I order Cats Best cat litter which alone isn't enough, but I can always waste money on cat toys and odds and sods!

I've been working with Zoey for a month or so on her staying on the couch whilst I train Kasper on the floor. Zoey has really poor impulse control, so we had to start out very easy and reward her every few seconds...she's getting really good though

Here she is on the couch whilst I work with Kasper, waving his left paw

Lyle's grandparents bought us a camping chair each for Lyle's birthday. I bought a small dog bed from the pet shop (it matches our other round one  ) as the camping chair's material was slippy. Now Zoey loves going up there!

Also the other day we bought dog bubbles (peach flavoured, although didn't taste ANYTHING like peach to me!!). Kasper wasn't really that fussed about them, but Zoey went craaazy...I think we've found a new way to tire her out when it's raining outside :rolling:

A video to start...training both dogs to go on their new bed on cue, Zoey chasing gigantic bubbles (she really doesn't like the taste though bless her!), a few basic tricks and giving her daddy some love

Okay, I genuinely think this is the cutest photo I have ever seen. She's just...gah! :heartsabove:

I find it so hard when people don't find Staffies cute. Zoey is just...perfect. I always come back to that word with her! She loves lying in the sun  You can see the beautiful dark brown her eyes are here too.

Oh god I've never considered grooming...I'd be so scared about nicking a dog! I'd love to work with nervy dogs / puppies and help put them at ease though, not enough groomers take the time (or have the time) to do that. Maybe I could just be an induction person who gets the dog used to the environment and equipment but doesn't actually do anything!! :rolling:

Here's the hair I snipped off Kasper the other day. The pile on the left is from his paws, and the pile on the right is from the very base of the tail only.

     photo trim1_zps0mgp3o17.jpg

Even though this photo isn't very pretty, I love it because it's Zoey being an absolute sweetheart! I was battering her with my toes, prodding her head and belly and generally being a pest. Zoey is a very mouthy dog, but she is she is even more gentle with toes than fingers. She's a love

    Keeper of the hens

Thanks! :) She really knows how to look adorable, and she's such an easier dog than Kasper! :tooth: She found a sock the other night, and I said all exasperated "Oh Zoey..." and she immediately dropped the sock and shuffled over to me, offering so many appeasement signals. I felt so sorry for her! She got about ten dog cookies as a result :rolling:

She hates to be in anybody's bad books. We taught her that us shouting or sounding angry is okay and nothing to be scared of. We can even shout whilst leaning over her and slap her, she thinks it's great fun and it results in a mad play session (this is just in case some idiot out on a walk ever does anything before we can prevent it). But she can't stand when we sound even faintly sad :sarcastic:

Whereas Kasper is very willing to tell you to sod off if he has something he wants to keep. We learnt early on, before we knew anything about dogs, that getting angry only made him worse...I'm so glad I taught him to bring items to me in exchange for something better, it's prevented so much resource guarding!

Zoey has never guarded anything in her life. From when she first came to us at 10 weeks we taught her to drop things for us and we'd always give her something better. She will bring a Kong stuffed with meat for us to hold whilst she chews it! :twosome:

They're both the best dogs in the world, but in entirely different ways!

     photo sunny_zpscbk4mgsf.jpg

I cleaned Zoey's harness the other day. I've been wanting to clean it since the end of last year, but as Zoey can only wear one harness (due to her terror of harnesses), I haven't been able to wash it because it wouldn't be dry in time for her next walk.

The harness was soooo grubby. It was really easy to wash though, all I used was a sponge, some hand soap and a bowl of cold water. It only took about 10 minutes. Guess which gigantic pleb tried to drink the dirty soapy water?!

     photo sunny2_zpslqgkiiix.jpg

    Kasper... :sarcastic:

Waiting for it to dry...even though the sun had left the garden, it still only took a few hours.

We have two camping chairs to sit on now for when the couch is occupied  Oh...well, I say two, but actually my red one is now Zoey's, and she even has a dog bed / cushion on there. Hmmm

Zoey has so many new Nylabones at the moment (they're for Kasper too, but he has less interst). She has a dinosaur shaped one (I'm going to start a new thread about that), a small cheap one, and a huuuge one made for dogs over 25kg!

She's a very happy dog :rolling: She also got to try out the Buster Cube before Kasper. To my shock she really likes it, even though it's not that easy to get treats out of. It's much bigger than I was expecting, and a lot harder too, but so far Zoey approves.
In the last photo she had an itch :)

We bought a honking pig toy for Kasper...he came with one when we adopted him, so it was a trip down memory lane!

Anyway, Zoey has never played with one, so we let her have a try. She did, of course, react in the same way she does with any new toy...by going absolutely crazy! :tooth:

It doesn't matter how dull the toy is that we give her, she does the same with Nylabones! It's kinda dangerous with them, both me and Lyle have been hit in the back of the head by a Nylabone flung from the couch :rolling:

Whenever Zoey has a toy in her gob, usually a rather large Nylabone, she brings it over and shoves it in your face. I think she desperately wants you to chew the end of it...she seems to thrust it at your mouth anyway. It's rather cute, but can be painful :rolling:

I always feel really rotten, but the end of Nylabones are so gross! Once they've been chewed, they go all spiky and collect hair off the carpet = ewww!

We bought Kasper and Zoey a new water bowl yesterday. I've wanted a stand-up water bowl for years (since before Zoey turned up!!) but they always come in pairs, or they're too expensive, bulky etc. Yesterday we were going to the cinema, and before we went we popped into T K Maxx. Behold, a dream come true!

Kasper LOVES it...although he is the messiest (and loudest) drinker in the world. Several people have commented on the fact; even the owners of a Lab rescued from a being a breeder at a puppy mill, who had never drunk water until she was 3 years old, isn't as noisy or messy as Kasper!! :tooth: And the added height means he splashes further *sigh* I was hoping it would do the opposite!

Zoey wasn't so keen, but is getting used to it. She's so small that had it been 5 / 10cm taller she wouldn't reach it!

    Keeper of the hens

I found some 'scissor style' dog clippers today, not the usual guillotine type. I think I'll buy a pair and see if I feel any more confident using them.

Kasper has a new favourite 'game'. It's really simple haha, I send him to his bed, ask him not to move, then send him to the couch. Over and over. You can see in his eyes and face how much he is enjoying himself, which in turn makes me happy! He loves it because the amount of time I ask him to wait varies (=exciting!) and he never knows how many repetitions before a treat...it's like doggy gambling! :rolling:

He's gotten really good at distance work now, I can send him onto the couch or his bed from opposite ends of the room. It's really cool to see the work paying off. The last clip is him doing leave it whilst I place treats all around him. He still rocks at this; as you can see he doesn't move at all and maintains eye contact, I don't even have to ask him to leave the treats anymore! I'm proud

I love all the pictures Red..Zoey is a total ham..She's cute and she knows it. Our Frodo is trained to "leave it" until we say OK...then he grabs the treats. A couple of days ago, I was really busy when I puts his food down and went back into the house..I forgot to say "OK" before I went back inside..10 min. later I went out to get his bowl to wash it, he was sitting there next to his full food bowl, looking desperate..I felt like an idiot for not saying it was ok. As soon as I said "OK" he went for the food. I wonder how long he would have sat there waiting till I came back out..10 min. is a long time when your hungry. We may have over trained him.

Holy spit Lynn that is awesomely impressive! I know Zoey or even Kasper wouldn't wait that long if I left them to it. That's so cool!

I'm desperately trying to find a secure field to rent so Kasper and Zoey can play off lead together and have lots of room to run free - how cute would that be?!

I hadn't even realised it was a thing before, but I found a few places that do it...none anywhere near us of course. I've emailed kennels, training facilities, dog walkers and petting farms. No go so far. Annoyingly somewhere in Keighley rents out a field, right near where we lived in Yorkshire, and they sound awesome too...*sigh* I've put adverts up everywhere; would love to see Kasper and Zoey sprinting madly and playing! :tooth:

This is a really useful site and apparently gets updated regularly, and you can check out the one in Keighley too!

I'm not sure he'd be patient enough to wear one, I can only put them on him for ten seconds at a time. At the moment I take him outside, get him in the pool and splash water all over his back, belly and legs. Hopefully it'll cool down soon, I can't believe it might hit 30*C in the next few days... *pant pant*

    Some pics of the plebs.

I sent them both to bed :tooth: I was actually only meaning Zoey to follow the cue, but I didn't ask Kasper to stay still or specify "Zoey bed" so they both went :rolling:

Training in the garden, that's their 'wait' hand signal

Zoey on a three seated seasaw in the park on a public footpath. It's really wobbly so is great for improving her balance!

House in the village over that leaves a full bowl of water out 24/7, bless them! We posted them a thank you card today

In case anyone wondered what Zoey would look like with no eyes...

Wonder if I could use Red's techniques to get the grandkids to go to bed - it's always a battle and they NEVER stay!!!

CC she literally has two expressions, either needlessly serious or deliriously happy...I love them both :)

Yes it's always appreciated, Zoey gets a drink there without fail. If we're only doing a short walk it saves us carting a bottle about too.

What, whip out the clicker and the dog treats?! :rolling:

We had to take Zoey out in the day today and we got stranded because some idiots let their Springers off lead in a field we needed to walk through. The dogs just happened to be aggressive, and there was no way around the field, so we were stuck for about five minutes in this heat - UGH!

When we got back Zoey was so warm, panting more than ever. I took her out back and coaxed her into the pool - she was so hot that every time she left the pool she realised how much nicer it was in the water and dived back in!! Within ten minutes she had stopped paddling (we are all appreciating this pool SO much!) and was soon larking about in the water.

She looooved digging the water and chomping at the waves :heartsabove:

You can see we also brought the honking pig out, which she enjoyed launching everywhere. Watch out for the bit where she flings it in the air and Lyle catches it!

When she'd calmed down a bit we dropped some pieces of a dental chew into a washing up bowl holding an inch of water, so Zoey was bobbing for them. She dug about to get them, and I started clicking and treating her for digging. This encouraged her to do it more and more, until we added a new trick to our list

In this video I'm not asking her to dig in the pool or the tub, Zoey is choosing where to dig herself! Over time I'll be able to increase the amount of digging she does before I reward her, and hey presto I have an easy way to wear her front nails down :tooth:

Because we don't bathe our dogs (well, only if they REALLY need it) and Zoey doesn't walk in the rain, I've never seen her sodden before. She looked flipping adorable!

we bought some fish treats yesterday, they're salmon ones. Some small cubes of salmon jerky bites and longer strips...they look so cool! Ooops, forgot to post these pics!

We...well, I say we. Technically it was Lyle who won all three coconuts (in one go!), but I hit two and they didn't fall off so I'm taking credit too!! :tooth: Anyway, we brought three coconut back from a fair, and thought we'd let the pups play with them!!

Kasper, surprisingly, got bored within minutes. I was expecting him to love clonking it around the room!!

    Keeper of the hens

Kasper went in voluntarily, he even stayed in there with Zoey for a good five minutes!

I've seen loads of Collies that are taught to do that and I never understand it - how do their nails not scratch the human?! How can they be sure they'll catch them?? I'm pretty sure I'd be terrible at it...I struggle to pick Zoey up, never mind catch her, and she's 11kg :rolling:

Zoey learning about what she is :tooth:

     photo shoot_zpsxdp5oqyu.jpg

Kasper looking very well learned and intelligent! :rolling:

     photo shoot1_zpsx2drcrws.jpg

Zoey kept telling me wanted lots of photos of her in her tent, with her head poking out. She really wanted me to take photos of her like that, then would sprint for a treat and get back right to posing...I had to oblige!

     photo shoot4_zpsfhn3g8ec.jpg

    Hey big bolly head!

     photo shoot2_zps3ggli0lx.jpg

Perspective makes Kasper look 10x the size of Zoey

     photo shoot3_zps7bfq27wb.jpg

They found this very confusing, both being sent into the tent at the same time, asked to pose and wait until released...took a few attempts but we managed it :D

     photo shoot6_zpsszvnegpf.jpg

I'm pretty sure this is the perfect photo for an anti-animal abuse poster..."Zoey's owners left her with nothing to play in but a princess tent, and they only trained her for 30 minutes a day"...

    Keeper of the hens

Zoey was full of beans today (think she's still sulking that Kasper had so much fun yesterday and she was left home ;) ) but we couldn't walk her because it's rained a lot...bring on the training, play and interactive toys!!

First I started teaching her how to ring a bell with her paw...she did really good.

And in the next video she's busy flinging her Buster Cube around the room (I hate how clunky that thing is, and how it's hard for Zoey to move it with her paws due to the smooth sides). It's one of the hardest puzzle feeders we have.

And at the end there's a short clip of me teaching Zoey to play tug of war. Zoey has *never* had any interest in playing with toys and humans...she will rag and destroy toys on her own, and will playfight with us, but together? Nope!

We've been working on it, and I think we're getting there. She seems to be enjoying herself! I'm teaching her manners, so she doesn't leap at my face and snap at my fingers hahaha! So she has to be calm when I have the tuggy toy, wait for the cue ("get it") AND I've just started teaching her to drop it during tug of war! I can't believe she can manage that!!

We were training / playing for about 20 minutes, then she had her Buster Cube and chewed her new antler for ages too. She was ready to sleep afterwards

    Keeper of the hens

Been doing lots of general training with the pups recently...proofing the basics like get on the furniture, get off the furniture, wait and drop it. I've also been working on impulse control and patience...so I have both dogs wait, drop a treat in front of them, and release only one of them to get it. Zoey needs more work in this area so I'm also doing it where she's told to sit and wait, then I throw a treat across the room to Kasper - she has amazed me how good she is at this!

Finally I get a bowl with something tasty in and feed them in turns...so Kasper gets maybe 5 seconds licking with me holding the bowl (I usually use peanut butter or something mushy) then the bowl is moved away and Zoey gets a turn, back to Kasper etc etc. They have to sit side by side and wait their turn, without moving towards the other - no problems with this at all, not even from resource guarder Kasper!
    :)

I wish I could shave him down CC, it would be so much easier and much less hassle than snipping away with scissors...you're not supposed to shave a dog with his coat though, so scissors it will be!!

I'm not that interested in the grooming side of things Kate, I don't know why...I more enjoy the interaction and training aspect I guess  I would love to be able to board dogs at the house though, but it's very small and I don't think our two would appreciate it!

Found two new brands of kibble we're going to try the pups on in future. They're both on zooplus and amazingly priced for the quality ingredients. They also look really weird too...they remind me of chicken layers pellets but a lot bigger!!

    HAHAHAHA! Ew, dog eggs....!! :rolling:

My parents bought the dogs a really cool looking dog toy; it's a rubber bone with rawhide strips stitched onto it!! Once the dog has managed to get the rawhide off, you can then refill it; the toy comes with an extra two strips, and you can buy them separately too. You soak them in warm water for five minutes, then you can stitch them in however you want

     photo seamsters5_zpslfwkidls.jpg

It was surprisingly fun to do!

     photo seamsters6_zpsgaipzj6g.jpg

Then you leave it for 5 - 24 hours until the rawhide is dry before giving it to the dog

The packaging on the back also claimed the toy "stands up to the toughest chewers"...well how come Kasper tore the rubber within ten minutes then, I wonder?? :sarcastic:

It's not bad enough that it can't be re-used, but it shouldn't have broken within 15 minutes!

It's a shame the rubber isn't in any way durable, as we would definitely have used this as a rare treat for Kasper. We don't usually give our pups rawhide, because they swallow large pieces and it can cause blockages, but as this was a narrow strip we thought Kasper might enjoy it - he REALLY did!

    Haha maybe CC

We've had a massive overhaul of the house and are having a belated, BIG spring clean!! It's taking forever, but today Lyle has done most the work haha. Kasper has been really good, even when I emptied and cleaned out the dogs' toy bins...he just lay on his bed and watched
    :)

     photo clean5_zpsqbmxkpmu.jpg

The storage bin we used for kibble now holds their ordinary toys

     photo clean6_zpslsudiuyc.jpg

And their old toy bin which was overflowing now contains just their food dispensing toys (not including their Kongs, which are either in use or in the freezer)

     photo clean7_zps4noaypuq.jpg

I think we still have too many toys to fit, Zoey has left half a dozen scattered around the house...think we may need another bin :rolling:

Zoey's limp has all but gone, but I don't know when we'll let her bounce about or go on walks. I reeeaaally don't want the limp coming back! She seems to have adjusted more to caged life though haha and has settled really well these past few days. I've been trying to tire her out by training her, only doing tricks that doesn't mean she has to move...checking her teeth and other body handling work, muzzle, leave it etc

     photo limp7_zpsk62rgalu.jpg

Kasper has had to sleep in his crate overnight so Zoey can sleep in bed with us and there's no chance of them playing...he's not impressed with this, and starts whinging around 7am. We've been staying up later, giving him an extra walk a day AND giving him an extra Kong in his crate...he's an arse :sarcastic:

I also finally found a brush that is awesome for grooming Kasper...it's an old hairbrush!!! I've tried several pet brushes, but this is the only one that works really well. I brushed him THREE times yesterday and finally got all the old hair off him :yay_jump: 1st brush:

     photo brush3_zpsrfj27rxk.jpg

    Keeper of the hens

Thank you :) I couldn't believe how much shinier and neater his coat looked immediately afterwards - I've been using pet brushes all these years and he looked so scruffy :rolling:

After I had so much fun doing balance exercises with Zoey using the cushions from our couch, I am totally buying our dogs a balance ball / board / disc! Took me a while to find them sold in the UK, and they're kinda expensive, but I can always wait until my birthday...not only are they really fun (for me and the dogs!) but they're very beneficial to the dogs too. I've been looking at cheap agility stuff as well...because I can dream right?! :tooth:

I will buy the Giant sized balance disc and some low hurdles too. I've also been meaning to buy a hula hoop for years...so many fun things you can teach your dog with a hoop!

Zoey is doing awesome with her training though, which amazes me. She is so full of energy - how can she even concentrate?!

She already knows the hand signal which means keep her head still so I can hold her chin / jaw (useful for getting her used to restraint, and can be used in a recall to keep her with me instead of grabbing a harness or collar) - I started teaching her that trick YESTERDAY! Also began using the end of a plastic bottle for muzzle training yesterday, and already she keeps her head perfectly still and will wait with her nose in the 'muzzle' for five seconds until I release her!

I updated the pups' trick chart today as well. I know there's still plenty of tricks I've forgotten to add, but Zoey knows 30 cues and Kasper knows 31

    Keeper of the hens

She is a smart one, I have to admit it

She was so hyper in the bedroom this morning when Lyle took Kasper out, omb! I swear she always waits until Lyle leaves ha! She was absolutely barmy for a good 30 minutes, but eventually I managed to calm her down by putting her antler into her Kong...really annoyed her and she just had to get it out! It all used up some of her energy so I'm not complaining :tooth:

Covered in scratches from her claws though...we played a game where I hide under the duvet and Zoey has to ferret her way in. She loves it and it tires her out, but when she gets under omb she wriggles all over me and those claws hurt!

Today was also day 2 of Yumove joint supplements. They've got very good reviews and their main ingredient was recommended to us by another dog owner who had a limpy dog.

They were £35 for 300 tablets, which isn't bad as Zoey only needs one a day and Kasper 1.5 - 2. They also must taste okay, because both dogs will eat them with no persuasion - usually we have to hide worming tablets or meds in cheese or peanut butter! :001_tt2:

Hats off to Kasper who hasn't barked despite the fact we've had the window open in our living room these last four days. We close it if we hear a group of loud people, but he's done really well. And also well done Zoey who slept downstairs last night (she'd been sleeping in our bed since limping) and didn't make a noise or try and escape from the pen we left her in. Well done dogs!

Finally! Past few days Zoey has been getting ordinary sized walks, has been sprinting madly and jumping up and off furniture. She's better, yay! I wonder if the joint supplement helped?

Probably not the supplements - too short a timespan - more likely the enforced rest. Glad she's recovered!

It's okay Zoey, I definitely didn't hoover the floor literally 20 minutes before this photo was taken...when I said you could pick a toy from the toy bin, I didn't mean for you to pick the rope toy, destroy it, and spread the threads everywhere...

    Keeper of the hens

It hadn't even rained all day, what's her excuse then?! I guess she could have predicted the rain, as it did start about an hour after she had created mayhem...our carpet's horrible too, it shows every speck of dirt, fluff and hair so I feel like I'm hoovering it constantly!

Few photos; here's Kasper relaxing in his crate after emptying his Kong - do you think he has enough room in there? It might look a little cramped... :rolling:

     photo bigcrate_zpsp9tkp5qs.jpg

And here's one extremely happy Zoey. I think she looks adorable, in a slightly ugly way, here (I think it's because she has no ears!)

I should hopefully have an exciting post tonight...if not today then soon

She is constantly laughing...that dog just finds life hilarious! Does Kasp like his crate? Do you put him in or does he chose to go in? My customer's dog loves his crate - it's his default setting.
    You're keeping us on tenterhooks!:face-smile:

CC I love this quote, it describes Zoey perfectly: "She is constantly laughing...that dog just finds life hilarious!"

This will answer your question ;)

I think I taught him the crate was a good place a little too well...now as soon as the kitchen door opens he races in and sits there looking at me expectantly :rolling:

Kate she wasn't even stretching her tongue yawning in that photo, she was just doing happy smiley panting...it really is that long!

    Thank you Lynn :bighug:

    Keeper of the hens

Um...so yeah, Raiden has been home 1 week and three days. He has had two accidents the entire time he has been here, and one of those was our fault (forgot to lock the doors on his pen overnight so he had access to the room).

When he came to us he didn't know anything. Now, a week and a half later, he knows the following tricks and will follow them with either a verbal cue or a hand signal:
    - Sit
    - Lie down
    - Touch / target
    - Come when called
    - Positive Interrupter

And he is learning leave it and drop it! Here's a video from yesterday:

He is an amazingly calm and well mannered puppy. We were prepared for the horrors of Zoey's puppyhood (it's a good job she was cute!) but he is so, so different. One of the main reasons we went the breeder route is so that we could be sure he had a good start, and I really do feel it's made a difference. Raiden and baby Zoey are on opposite ends of the spectrum!

He loves to play tug and chase after toys

     photo room2_zpsdl4iyo76.jpg

He has no issue wearing a harness at all (YESSSS!). He sleeps in a pen at night (not a fan of being shut in a crate) and is already down from being toileted twice a night to once a night.

     photo 2ndday7_zps1qwx8nbp.jpg

This is from the 4th day with us, sleepy head

     photo 4thday1_zpssc1lto9v.jpg

He is fanatical about carrot...he loves it, and one cm thick piece lasts him about 10 minutes

     photo 4thdaycarrot_zpsxvqyygcs.jpg

He's really good about settling on his own - this is what he was doing whilst I was talking to my parents on the phone last night

     photo 9thdaynight_zpsxkbnwcag.jpg

And he found a small length of shredded toy that Zoey left for him...he was so pleased :D

I will post more pics and info in a sec...

    Keeper of the hens

From day one Zoey has been absolutely smitten with her baby brother. She hasn't once told him off and she wants to be with him every second he's awake. Unfortunately they both get over-excited so they can only play a few minutes at a time, and then they need a break. Excited Raiden means more biting and yapping, and poor Zoey doesn't tell him off when he bites her so we need to step in!

Zoey will let him dig at her face, stand on her head and bite her legs...hopefully as Rey gets older she will start telling him what's unacceptable, but for now we're doing that for her

Kasper is far less than impressed at having a puppy in the house - in fact a few weeks before Rey came home, when the puppy's harness arrived, this was Kasper's reaction :rolling:

     photo harness1_zpsdzgby5dp.jpg

So we are teaching Kasper and Raiden to be calm near each other. It's going pretty well

Everyone has been getting more puzzle feeders and Kongs than usual, to keep them busy, tired and calm. It took Raiden quite a while to understand how to use a treat ball...at first he just sat and whined at the hole :rolling:

     photo 8thdaynyla_zpsjju6z8az.jpg

Kasper may have gotten a little exuberant with one of his puzzle feeders

He looks a very serious puppy in some of the pictures. Zoey is such a gentle girl - do you think she likes him because she's a girl and, vice versa, Kasper dislikes because the puppy is a boy?

    Keeper of the hens

Thanks CC, he is pretty darn cute ;)

Kate, he is very serious when he is concentrating, just as Zoey is. Now he knows that he isn't supposed to jump up or bite clothing he tries so hard to behave...so for a few seconds he will scrabble and bite whilst we ignore him, then he remembers what he is supposed to do and will sit down - his little face as he tries so hard to get it right!!

I don't think gender has too much to do with it, I'm fairly certain Zoey would be a lovable dopey git to any puppy  From what I've read gender doesn't usually play much of a role with young puppies...some trainers now think when dogs have been neutered gender doesn't play much of a role at all.

This is how Raiden likes to sleep, if he chooses to go in his crate...his favourite places are either out in the open of the pen, in the cat carrier or squished in a tiny gap of the wire crate!!

     photo 10thdaysleep_zpsxh8yytgl.jpg

His 'big boy' plastic crate is on the way now (he seems to prefer plastic crates to wire). It only cost £30, will be big enough for when he's fully grown, and is secure enough to be used on airplanes!! The inside apparently has no edges or corner to chew either, which is good.

Lyle looks after the puppy in the morning, until I'm up. This is what he has to deal with:

     photo 11thdaymorning_zps9ttawexf.jpg

Then when I'm alone with Raiden he goes BONKERS!! We play fetch, train, play tug, train, and use puzzle feeders for an hour straight...then Lyle gets back and Rey's ready to sleep again :rolling:

    More to come...

    Keeper of the hens

And today my mum and dad came to see him!!

I don't think they were thrilled when they heard about the little guy ( :tooth: ) but upon meeting him they fell in love, which was awesome.

Raiden did SO well...he was happy to say hello to them, he did good with chickens, cows and a man he met. AND he did all his tricks and showed off with me in front of them  But the best bit was when I showed them the hand signal, and when they asked Raiden to sit he did!

    My dad training Raiden

     photo 11thdayfamily3_zpseadkcsuo.jpg

    Rewarding Rey for being calm

     photo 11thdayfamily2_zps0zkascte.jpg
And my mum giving him a cuddle :)

     photo 11thdayfamily_zpspyrhegf4.jpg

My parents were super impressed with how well behaved he was. Even when he got overly excited and jumped up at them, when they ignored him he would immediately sit down and wait...they thought that was awesome

I think Rey won them around ;)

And we also left Raiden for the longest time yet (1 hour 20 minutes) and when we got back he was spark out sleeping - he didn't even wake up when we came in or got in the pen with him!

How could your mom and dad NOT love him? He is such a cutey - we're going to love watching him grow!
