We're moving early next month. Yes we have a cottage to move into, right on the sea front...it's very close to a games' shop for Lyle and a second hand book shop for me, I'll be in heaven!

I love the differences there are in the same language!

It'll be lovely to live by the sea. I think you're very brave to move again - I think anyone who makes a big change in their life is (I'm such a safe option stick in the mud!).. I'm sure I remember you saying a long time ago that you'd like to live nearer Lyle's parents and the sea. Is it a case of the opportunity has come up so you're grabbing it? I think the dogs will love it - in and out the sea and legging it down the beach! And tell Kasper they have rabbits in Morecombe to!!

I love finding out all the differences in languages. I've heard candyfloss called cotton candy before, but mostly it's called candyfloss here

Kate, yup, I've always wanted to live by the sea so we just thought we'd go for it! I hope Kasper can get used to the walks there, and it'd be great if they both enjoyed the sea. Neither of them has seen it before, Kasper has been to the beach once, but the tide was out so all he saw was sand...he did love the dead fish he found though!! :tooth:

    Keeper of the hens

We had a joyous walk with Zoey this morning! Firstly she found ANOTHER DEAD SHEW!! That's three she's found now, and yes they're all shrews?! So she had to pick that up in her mouth and fling it around a little before rolling on it...

THEN, walking down a really narrow footpath, she did a poo right in the middle of the path, and STOOD in it before I could pick it up! She then walked all over Lyle's shoe and covered it in little poo prints, aaagh! :ack2:

    So yes, simply delightful...

Here she is destroying an old shoe of mine :)

Oh, and all Zoey and Kasper's loot too!! (well, most of it, apart from the collars they are wearing, Zoey's two harnesses and Kasper's harness that hang by the front door, and the 4 leads there!!)

In UK we don't often use the word candy.
Up in the North of England here, specifically Yorkshire, "sweets" ie., chocolate and boiled sugar type confections, we call "spice". Which is very confusing to outsiders!

Haha it's a shame they don't get walked together isn't it!!

We are all enjoying the cooler weather over here...Zoey got mild heatstroke a few days ago and was sick once as soon as we got home. That was with taking her out in the morning and making sure she had a drink the whole walk, too! So as of now whenever the weather is despicably warm we will be walking Zoey even earlier before the sun has any chance to heat up...I can't wait to move and have a sea breeze on hot days!!

I'm currently looking for a new tag for Kasper, although probably won't order until we move...here are some of my favourites though!

    This one is adorable

This one is very cute too!

He needs a new collar as well; Zoey chewed all the design of his last one so now Kasper's having to wear a scruffy old one...he is abused isn't he! :tooth:

I still want to get him this collar in blue

I'll tell Lyle he has to let me buy it after we move now because I have another vote for it! :tooth:

Here are a few I'd like for Zoey too...I can dream...

This one's really nice and vibrant, but at 1.5 inch wide it's probably too much for such a dinky girl!

It's weird that I like to dress Zoey up in pink (well, not currently, but usually!) because I am the biggest tomboy ever. I've never been a fan of the colour pink, but I want to make Zoey look as pink as possible!!

Zoey is fab at leg weaves these days, she can do three in a row with no reward. She also doesn't need a verbal cue or a hand signal, it's really incredible. She's super smart...I say this whilst she is sat on the couch barking and howling at flies in the living room!! :rolling:

Kasper is lying on the floor very calmly, wondering what all the fuss is about

    Keeper of the hens

Had a terrible walk...copied from another forum:

On our evening walk we bumped into some people walking four very cute 16 week old puppies and both parents. The people were very chavvy but all was going well, Zoey was loving saying hi to all the dogs etc.

A man came to say hi to Zoey and I told them we don't let her say hi to people as she jumps up. He came to say hi anyway and said it was fine Then when Zoey jumped up he grabbed her by the scruff of the neck and collar, held her in a sitting position and every time she tried to jump up shook her and yelled, "give up!" at her :(

My bf had her on-lead and said "let's go" to Zoey and we walked away with her but I was almost in tears it was horrible  We already have one rescue dog scared of men due to abuse, I'm hoping the experience didn't shake Zoey up too much. After it happened we praised and treated everytime she walked past a man...is there any other training I can do?

I'm gonna do some training holding / restraining her with her collar so she sees that as a positive thing, and will continue to praise every time she sees a man. I'm also having my dad come over to see her to see how she reacts to a practical stranger.

I just feel like the worst owner in the world for not protecting her :(

You did what you could-you told him you didn't let her meet strangers but he obviously had a "better than you" mentality and was trying to make a point which he did ... That he's an idiot and you are right about who and she meets when. Short of assaulting him all you could do was take the opportunity to remove her from the situation without making a big thing of it. Had she been aware of your concern and stress it might have caused an adverse future reaction, but you've dealt with it and rewarded etc.

Don't chastise yourself, you are a fantastic owner!

I have no idea, but I am sick of it...

This is a puppy who has never so much as been shouted at as we raise her with positive reinforcement...being grabbed and yelled at must have been a horrible experience for her. As of now I will add being yelled at to her daily training so she can see it as a fun experience...

And the house is unfurnished, but as we have all our own furniture that's no problem  And Kasper is impeccable in the car, but this time he's gonna be in the boot so I don't know how he'll cope with that, and as for Zoey...she's never been in a car for longer than 15 minutes before so that could be interesting for such a livewire!! Keeper of the hens

    Hallo everyone!

    We finally have internet, yay!

We're all happily settled in the new house, which is lovely. It only took the dogs a few days to treat it like home, and Zoey has been running around trying to pull up the carpets, get the wallpaper off the walls and other very helpful things :rolling:

The dogs were superb on the drive up from Yorkshire. Kasper was in the boot all on his own, and he curled and slept the entire drive. Zoey stayed awake for the journey but wasn't a nuisance at all, other than trying to climb into the front to say hi to Lyle's mum a few times!!

The house is in a beautiful location just a few seconds' walk to the beach, and BOTH dogs are really enjoying their walks, Kasper especially, surprisingly! They both hunt along the beach, searching for dead crabs which they quickly gobble up (ew!). Kasper adores chasing the seagulls and will run miles out when the tide's out after them. He's also more than happy to swim out into the sea to reach them. The first time Zoey saw the sea she tried to play with the waves and barked at them!

I (obviously) have lots of pictures to share, which I'll upload in dribs and drabs...

And a few normal pics of the pooches, here is a naked (as in she's not wearing a collar haha) pic of Zoey in one of her favourite spots

And Kasper showing off his tushie-pegs!

This is Zoey's hiding spot, and here she is looking very miserable, because she knew we were about to put her harness on. She still detests having her harness on, although loves being out on walks!

     photo beach10_zpse1c51d7a.jpg

Kasper trying some of the dried tripe, which they both really enjoyed. He also got a lamb's trotter the other day too, which lasted him ages!

Thanks Lynn, I'll have to get a photo of the sunset at sometime over the bay, it's such an awesome sight. Kasper really enjoyed the lamb's trotter and it lasted him ages so, as long as he isn't sick, at 99p I'll deffo be buying that again.

I want to share pics of the house and some new babies but I can't because my camera battery has died and we've lost the charger in the move, it'll turn up at some point but for now I'm camera-less booo!

I have got one pic of Ruby to share though so here she is

     photo beach12_zpscae67eea.jpg

Already accepting strokes. She's just a baby, about the size of a mouse despite being a Syrian hamster! She's totally goofy and loves to hang upside-down from the bars of her cage.

Cassie, my other newbie, an adoptee, is fully grown and huuuge! She's a Syrian too and has tamed up very nicely. It took a while (about 3 weeks so not too bad) but now she loves being held and stroked

Ha! I think Ruby sees my fingers as grub, which is a shame as they're attached to me = ow!

Wish I could share pics of my Georgie girl. She's a 7 week old smooth coated crested guinea pig, all black. I've been after a long-haired guinea pig for ages (Peruvian preferably) but Georgie was an accidental litter and was dumped, and she was the last girl, and everybody knows I can't resist a sob story...so I now have a smooth haired piggle and two Abyssinian girls!

Lazlo is being such a bully, which is funny as she's the most cowardly piggy I know...I don't know how she managed to become top piggie!! Poor Georgie is looking so lost and just following the other two, despite being shouted at for it. I'm sure she'll settle in soon

I've hit the pet limit again now; no more pets!

I'm counting Georgie as a (very) early birthday pressie though!

Zoey and Kasper are both fine, although Zoey's hating this wet weather. I'm still getting used to people moving their dogs away from her because she's a Staffie, although it still really annoys me. Both dogs seem to have gotten used to not drinking sea water now, and are still enjoying their walks. I'm teaching Zoey a new trick where she runs to the footstool and sits on it no matter where it is in the living room. I've only just started though so she doesn't understand quite yet!

    Hurray for Lyle :woohoo:

Here are some piccy pics from my camera...we'll start with probably the most boring. Eric Barnaby, who I've had for about 7 years now, has had a major haircut as Zoey kept chomping on his leaves, so I gave him a bob cut!

And here is Cassie, our new Syrian girl...I think she's a young adult

Oh she finds them all VERY exciting! If the piggles make a noise as they squabble she leaps up, races over and jumps up, putting her paws on the table, desperate to see inside! Sometimes I lift her up so she can say hi (haven't subjected Georgie to this yet though!) and she goes crazy wagging her tail and "talking" to them!!!

Cassie and Ruby are generally ignored, unless she happens to see one of them move when she's bored, and then she runs over and barks at them! She has always been more interested in the piggles and, oddly, used to be fascinated by the budgies, although is less so now.

This is a photo of her at the old house saying hi to the piggles...she loves to wait until one of them is having a drink at the water bottle and then pounce at them, laughing cruelly as they run away squeaking!! :rolling:

I suppose it's all right if they don't react to Zoey, then she'll lose interest! I'm having trouble with Roger the rabbit who has discovered the joys of Chicken Chasing. Sinead just pecks Roger, but Locky rushes away in a v. satisfying cloud of feathers and squawking. The back garden is like the M25 some mornings with Roger and Locky rushing round and round and round...I've had to deploy the washing up liquid bottle full of water to stop Roger's antics.

Only if I'm around to the the crime perpetrated...we got home tonight to hear a huge kerfuffle going on in the garden. But by the time I got in the house and out into the back garden, Locky was looking outraged and all fluffed up, and Roger was the other side of the garden quietly eating a dead leaf and looking as though butter wouldn't melt...!
