    Keeper of the hens

Today we celebrated having Kasper for FOUR years...where does the time go?!

We've had plenty of ups and downs with Kasper, but he is my heart dog. He has taught me so much, I knew basically nothing about dogs before we adopted him, and I love him so, so much

We adopted him at 9 months old. He had little obedience training, was very, VERY enthusiastic around other dogs, had poor recall, was scared of strangers (especially men) and flinched if you moved too quickly towards him.

In four years he has come such a long way. He is polite when greeting other dogs, and will tell them to sod off if they are rude! He accepted his sister Zoey into the family with quite a few grumbles, but now he loves her dearly. He loves his walks, loves his treats and, surprisingly, enjoys making new (human) friends when introduced properly. He's fantastic when people are in the house and, unlike Zoey, will readily perform tricks to impress them! (Zoey is too busy hanging off their arms to do tricks :rolling: )

So, WE LOVE YOU KASPER! You're an amazing dog, are absolutely beautiful and we love you to bits. Here's to many, many more years together

    Keeper of the hens

The day started lazily, with snuggles and snoozing on the couch :)

Then, in the evening, he got an extra walk through the play ground and football field

    Happy boy :)

When we got back he got to play with all his new toys! Two of them can be filled with goodies and, seeing as he got some pork luncheon meat and Yorkshire cured ham, we stuffed them into 'em and he had a great time getting them out!!

And finally, we made him an awesome celebratory cake!! The icing is mashed potatoes mixed with a little tomatoe juice, and Lyle cut the letters out of the ham

    Keeper of the hens

    Thank you Lynn! :bighug:

Well, we promised Kasper a special walk today, and boy did we deliver! We were originally gonna walk to the farm, making it about a 90 minute walk...then on the way there I remembered this pond in the village that we used to live in, which Kasper used to love. So we walked there! We were out about two hours, Kasper loved every minute (seriously, it made me and Lyle thrilled to see him so happy!) and he was good as gold

Start of the walk, wondering where we are going

The weather was fairly pleasant, it was mainly sunny. There were two showers, but they only lasted ten minutes...bit of a pain as I had my nice camera with no bag, but ah well :tooth:

It was really cute, because when we got to the fields where we used to live, Kasper knew where we were! He got reeeally excited!

    Almost at the pond...

    Yaaay, dive in!!!

And of course lay down in the water, because that's just what he loves to do :rolling:

Then he had a bit of a roll about on the grass...

Look at that beaming smile! *happy dance*

    Thanks Kate

Thanks Lynn! I think it was one of the best yet...maybe not better than the time in Yorkshire when we took him to a forest miles away in the snow, but I still think he had a blast ;)
