    Keeper of the hens

There's a nearby walk that we've never been able to do with either of our dogs. People seem to walk obviously aggressive / out of control dogs there, and we've seen quite a few scuffles so have always avoided it.

So one day we got up at 4:30am (*yawn*) so we could go explore it without having to worry about other people and their dogs.

It was an eventful walk...I took my good camera with me; we got 15 minutes from the house and I turned it on and it said the battery was too low to take photos (if the battery is below 25% you can't take photos)!!! Even though I used it earlier in the day and the battery was full...uuuuugh!

So Lyle (bless him) ran back with the camera and picked up his mobile. So, the photos are dreadful quality as a) it's a phone b) it was dark and c) it was SO windy!

    Ah well...

It was pitch black when we first set out

As we made our way past the farm it started getting lighter

Walking past the stock car track, Zoey was fascinated with the portaloo!

     photo early5_zpsr7itspfa.jpg

This is a (blurry) photo of the track...and yes, the white blurred blob is Zoey frantically rolling on her back on concrete :rolling:

After you got past the stock car racing pit it opened up into beautiul countryside in all directions, it was crazy! (the mountain in the background is the one we used to live by)

     photo early8_zpskchmykj9.jpg

We stumbled onto a beach!! A proper beach, not just a field by the sea...there were rocks and shells and sand and sea! Unfortunately we couldn't get onto it as where we were walking was very cliff-y, and I couldn't get a good photo as the wind was so strong, but:

    Sharing the love ;)

We were out for about 90 mins, so got back around 6:30am. It was a beautiful walk, I wish my photos did it justice! And of course the little one was shattered when we got back...

    Sweet dreams puppy!

We're planning to do it again with Kasper...although I'm not thrilled about another 4:30am start! :tooth:

    Keeper of the hens

Thank you Lynn  We set out early today too...our sleep patterns are so messed up now!

Took my good camera and got some amazing photos - sorry there are so many! Kasper had such a good time too, which was really nice to see. We were out for about two hours, and most of that was on a longline. Tired boy

You can just see some stars in this pic

Through the bog...I spotted a 8 inch (at least) bone in the mud that was as thick as my wrist. No idea what animal it was from, but I'm glad Kasper didn't find it!!

This is the stle we go over...thankfully there's a little gap to the right that both our dogs can squeeze through, as Kasper is useless at crossing styles!

Lambs that sent Kasper crazy...I think the sheep are used to off-lead dogs, so started running about when they spotted Kasper, which drove him crazy!

After his walk...I don't know how he got mud on his nose :)

Do you ever walk them at the same time Kasper (that is, Zoey and Kasper, not Lyle and one of the dogs!!!) :)

    Keeper of the hens

We can do in an emergency, but try not to...I think the last time we did was about 2.5 years ago! :gasp:

    Mainly because
    1) We like to give the pups separate time so they don't become overly dependent on each other
    2) Kasper resource guards from Zoey...and it can be anything, not just high value things like litter...but sticks, rocks etc. Silly boy!
    3) Kasper pulls on lead when walked with Zoey...he hates people or dogs walking ahead of him :P
    4) Zoey needs management around other dogs so they don't add to her fear, whereas Kasper is confident
    5) We only have one lead that can be adjusted into a longline!!!

    Keeper of the hens

I really wanted to walk them together, I always imagined we would - in fact Zoey's first proper walk was with Kasper as it gave her a confidence boost!

But then Kasper began RG. And Zoey needed an immense amount of work and socialisation being a puppy. As she grew older we realised we couldn't walk her off lead where there are other people as she got over-excited, and it wouldn't be fair to walk Kasper off lead...then we moved here and walk them on lead, and imagine the tangles they'd get into!!

They were good times when they were both off lead together though, when Zoey was very young. Oh she used to follow Kasper like a shadow! There he was, 10 times her size, racing up mountains...and this tiny white dollop trying desperately to keep up with him!!

He lost her once, on the moor. Came back without her. I was in a panic yelling for her, then she appeared, happy as anything...kids :sarcastic:
